And we all do it, we find something that we like and think I bet I could make that, or see ideas that we just wish we could duplicate. Me personally, I think everything should be bedazzled...It just makes life fun!

I blame my love of bedazzling on Gary LeVox (the lead singer of Rascal Flatts) Every bit of him is bedazzled anywhere he goes. This picture is just 1 example, but usually his pants are studded or have some sort of a crystal design. My favorite part is that they are all "normal" clothes, nothing out of the ordinary but there is always something added to them to make them stand out! He really should be the face of the Bedazzler!!!

I have come to love iron-on's, appliques, and especially rub-on's. I have come to learn that there really isn't anything you can buy that can't be personalized or made "better!" It just takes some effort and a little elbow grease!

Seven and I "fancy up" (as she calls it) her stuff all the time. From her backpack and some school supplies to clothes and even her dolls. It is so fun transforming things! Here is my latest project. We took a girls trip to Minnesota back in October and made a stop at IKEA. Oh how I love that place! We don't have one here in KC so getting to go there truly is a treat. I could spend all day just wandering but I did manage to pick up some Christmas presents while we were there in October. They have great kid stuff and one thing I found that I absolutely loved was the Mala Paper Holder. And then they sell the Mala Paper Roll to go on it. The holder is $5.99 & the paper is $4.99 so for less than $10 you have the perfect kids gift!! That is what it looks like when you buy it but it's too plain for me. It's nice pine wood that is finished very well so all you need is a can of spray paint. I bought 3 sets when we were there in October. 1 I painted pink, the 2nd I painted white and black and then drew a checkered flag design on part of it and the 3rd I tried my hand at some zebra print. All it took was 1 printed picture off the internet of a zebra print, 1 can of spray paint and some sharpies and here was the final product...
And of course an A for a personalized touch!! :)

I know there has to be something laying around that you have thought if only it had this or I wish this was different....get over the fear and try it...start with the cheap things that can be easily replaced and work your way up. Trust me, I have had to trash many things that I tried to customize!! It's a learning process but you have to start somewhere...and just think, customizing makes it 1 of a kind...nothing better than that!!

Thanks for stopping!!!!

Snuggle Time!

All thanks to moving our daughters room and fully redecorating it earlier this summer I have found my passion for quilting again! I did some quilting in High School and shortly after I graduated and loved it. On those projects I just did the piecing part and paid to have the quilting done because I was a little nervous about taking on such a big project! I have gotten a little more brave over the years and decided when we redecorated our daughters room that I would quilt her a cover for her new daybed. Piecing the quilt was a breeze and she got to help so she thought that was great. Quilting was a little harder but mainly because I have a standard Brother machine, granted a great friend of mine was nice enough to give me a walking foot which made quilting much easier but there just isn't a lot of space to move around with a standard machine. I managed to do it but I think it will be a while before I take on that large of a quilting project again!

Instead I got the idea that I would make a quilted snuggle blanket for our little sister. She was adopted by my Mum & Pappy (Hubby's parents) from Ethiopia and come home to them earlier this year. So technically even though she is 19 months old already this will be her first Christmas here with us! I am so excited, she has brought so much joy to our family and it has been so fun watching her grow! This blanket was made especially for her but can be customized however you would like. The blanket measures around 35" x 50". I used all high quality cotton fabrics for the front of the quilt and backed it in fleece. The blanket is finished with satin binding and for an extra special touch I monogrammed the first letter of her first name on the back of the blanket to add some color. I have learned via Seven that finding a kid apron that "fits" is not easy to do. Every kids head is different and there are so many out there that don't adjust to accommodate that. I was SOOOOO pleased to find a new pattern that is 100% adjustable! I did a little dance in the pattern section at Joann's!

So I used both of my niece's December birthdays to try out the pattern and I have to say I am so in love with this pattern. They had 2 styles - flat front & gathered. I thought I would try my hand at the gathered look to make them more girly. I did them both at the same time and total it took me about an hour to complete them. I used the same two fabrics and just alternated the fabrics to make 2 coordinating but not matching aprons. Here is the finished product....

Here is the pocket detail...

And a closer look at the bib and the straps...

It is 1 long strap that fits through both sleeves inside the bib so they can make the neckline as long or as short as needed and then the remainder of the strap ties in the back...BRILLIANT!

And here are the girls wearing them!!!

Jordyn - The 4 Year Old Birthday Girl!

Sydnie - The 5 Year Old Birthday Girl!

Do you need an apron for your little squirt or would you like to order one as a gift???? As I sat and chatted with the friend that gave it to me, I squished it around in my fingers wondering what I could with it. I've played around plenty with clay, but not polymer clay. I thought of the cheesy things I've seen made with polymer clay. Oh, yes-I said cheesy. You know the stuff--don't pretend you didn't think the same thing when I said polymer clay! And even cheesy stuff has it's place in our lives, but not always does it work well on your neck with your new favorite scarf.

I felt challenged by my new gift. The challenge? Coming up with something that someone would wear with minimal research of designs already out there.

I went to the store and picked up some more supplies and got to work. I guess work would hardly be the word for this project. I had a GREAT time making these necklace pendants, but I've also always enjoyed making things with things like clay and playdoh. I was like a kid in a polymer clay candy store. Then add to the fact that I could paint it--I was sold!

So here's what I came up with...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 255px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ssaqHcThhHg/StlHJNU6qsI/AAAAAAAADEk/jhUK73BqxkI/s400/green+swirls.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5393420252274666178" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 255px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ssaqHcThhHg/StlHIr1jl0I/AAAAAAAADEc/BRxjVvdV6zA/s400/silver.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5393420243284760386" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 255px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ssaqHcThhHg/StlG1XvRPHI/AAAAAAAADEU/M2Zw5MyDnvQ/s400/teal+leaves.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5393419911472168050" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 255px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ssaqHcThhHg/StlG07PDCPI/AAAAAAAADEM/Cl1GM6XmYUw/s400/ethiopia.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5393419903820826866" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 255px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ssaqHcThhHg/StlG0b-h3RI/AAAAAAAADEE/ZLIY8iWhDt4/s400/redleavesbrown.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5393419895430044946" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 255px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ssaqHcThhHg/StlGz2hwrNI/AAAAAAAADD8/rFxWPsU1d8o/s400/rock1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5393419885377268946" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 255px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ssaqHcThhHg/StlGzcTeS5I/AAAAAAAADD0/sym2wgR7NYU/s400/rock2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5393419878338022290" />

Each pendant is made with polymer clay and is either completely painted or has painted accents. Then each one has 2 acrylic gloss coats on top of the paint. And includes a sterling silver stem to hang from a chain.

I have these ready to send out and a few more that are waiting to be finished. Want one? We have 2 female Weimaraners...Cali & Minne. They are are spoiled rotten so it's only fitting that they have boutique Halloween costumes...right?!?!? :)

I used Simplicity pattern #2159 (Large Dog Costumes) Option A (Bunny)
I have to tell you, the pattern was SUPER EASY to use! There were quite a few small details to attend to but their instructions were very easy to use and follow, the only part of the pattern I altered was using faux fur for the insides of the ears instead of contrasting fleece. The details were very specific, they even walk you through making the pom pom tail.

Time: Start to finish it took me 5 hours to completely finish both costumes.

Cost:
Simplicity Pattern (Joann's Columbus Day Sale) = $0.99
2 pkgs Velcro (BOGO @ Joann's) = $2.40
2 yards pink fleece (BOGO @ Joann's) = $3.99
1 pkg faux white fur (w/40% off coupon) = $1.19
No cost for Elastic, Yarn & Carboard since I already had them.
TOTAL Cost = $8.57
That's barely over $4.00 for each costume!!

And here are the final projects...

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5392134711016517186" style="DISPLAY: block; They have dog & cat costume patterns!
There are so many cute dog costumes in the stores but it's really hard to find big sizes. As we call them, we have plus size doggies (Weimaraners) so even the XL size in the store bought dog costumes/clothes just won't work for them. So I was super happy to see Simplicity made a costume pattern for big dogs...

Both our dogs are going to be bunnies (bottom right corner of the pattern picture) That is the project I am hoping to get finished this week so stay tuned for pictures!!

Do you have any other DIY funny costume ideas????

Click the comment link below this post and share with us!

Personalized Purse
(Eeek, say that 10 times fast!)

We all have baggage but there is no reason that it shouldn't be cute and stylish...right?!?!

Let me help you get the "perfect" baggage. I have many styles of bags to share with you but per my daughter this one is the best (she is a little partial since the 1st one I made was this one and it was for her!) so we will start here. More bags will come but you will just have to wait for more Craft Tables to see all the goodness!

This purse pictured above is actually the smallest size, it measures 12" x 8.5". The medium size measures 14" x 10.5" and the large measures 16.5" x 13.5". The finished product is yours for the making, you can pick up to 5 different fabrics (prices below are based on cotton fabric choices, but you are not limited to only cotton, the price will just go up a little for thicker fabric) Fabric #1 is for the sides, bottom & binding. Fabric #2 is the straps. Fabric #3 is the front pocket. Fabric #4 is the inside lining. And optional Fabric #5 is the inside pocket, you can pick a fabric just for that or use one of the other coordinating ones too.

**BONUS** The front pocket personalization is FREE! You don't have to personalize it if you pick a busy fabric but if you would like a personalized touch I will add that on for FREE! The possibilities are endless...initials, iron on patches, patchwork, bling...you name it and it's yours!

So if you are in the market for some new baggage let me help! I will work with you to pick the perfect fabrics and make the bag you dreamed up!

Baggage sizes...

Small (12x8.5") $25.00Medium (14x10.5") $30.00Large (16.5x13.5") $35.00

DIY Pillow!

Hi friends! I was just going through my reader and saw the cutest pillow!!!
My first thought was, "Oh! I can make that!" But I decided instead of making it, I'd just post the how-to up here for everyone in case you missed it! This is a simple project that can all be done easily by hand, so don't panic if you don't have a machine! There are parts you can tweak and make just for you!

I think this would be adorable and super chic in a red heart shaped pillow with ruffles all over the front! If you make this, I'd love to see it!

Hope everyone had a great Labor day holiday!

Handcrafted Doll

If you've been around me for a while-you may remember when I made some handmade dolls and sold them to raise money for Compassion's efforts in combating the global food crisis.

We sold several and were able to make a couple of donations towards the cause. I know I promised a post on wedding decorations but I saw the idea for these adorable shirts and couldn't resist! Plus, I really needed to figure out what to wear to work tomorrow.

I wish I could take credit for these, but I saw them somewhere else. I wish I could remember the link because I would LOVE to give credit where credit is due, but I don't so I can only let you know that it's not my original idea...much to my dismay... isn't it brilliant?!

I recently upgraded my camera and I can't say I'm too thrilled with it so sorry for the not so super pictures. Above, you can see the ruffles in all of their ruffly glory, are they not the cutest?! Here's a close up shot...

I would love to make one for you, but they're so simple to make I think you might have more fun making them yourself! Here's the deal... buy two shirts. One in your size and one in the biggest size you can find. (Actually, a small will do but why settle for less fabric when you can buy more and use it for something else? Or make more shirts for your friends?)

Choose a shape and cut a 2-3" template piece from cardboard or any thick material. I used the cover of an old phone book with a heart shape. Simply place the shape on the shirt (double layered), pin, and cut. For the above shirt I used about 10 hearts (so five cuts). Then, starting at the top seam, start sewing them on! I used my machine but it could very easily be done by hand. In fact, had a good show been on television I would have preferred needle and thread! I stitched maybe 6-8 stitches backwards and forwards and moved on -- I did not even think about placing the pieces on, I just sewed, looked at it, added another, etc... I'm working on a plum colored shirt now and so far it doesn't really look quite the same.

This is such an easy way to spice up a regular old t-shirt! I snagged this yellow one at Target for $6.98 and I have plenty of fabric from the spare cutter shirt to make a few for gifts (Christmas is right around the corner!).

So what do you think? Easy project? I'm thinking that if you had some old t-shirts it would be easy to pick up a similar shade and add to a current shirt, the contrast in color might be a nice, funky piece for fall. Oh and just imagine the big, chunky bracelets that would totally make this outfit pop?!

I'm getting carried away already! Wouldn't this be the most perfect project for a girls night?

I Come with Baggage

I've been diggin' the fabric bags of late.

{...wait..did I just say diggin'?! It must be that conversation I had with my cousin earlier today about divans and commodes. I think my brain went over yonder and hasn't made it back yet.}

I'm excited about all the new inspiration that has come from the rise of vintage styles. It's in these moments that I wished my grandparents had been uber pack rats and saved all the 'good' stuff. You know, the 'good' stuff that would totally need to be redone to have the style of vintage rather than thrift store garbage? MmmmHmmmm. THAT good stuff! Oh, I love me some of that good stuff!

Anyway-back to the topic in hand. Some of the new hand bag designs throw me back to a time that I have only ever thought of. The time of our grandmothers. When pointed toes, stiletto heels, and ballet flats reached new peaks of popularity. Which was also the years of Cinderella and Alice in Wonderland's birth.

Now where would we, ladies, be without Cinderella and Alice?

I have several bag designs that I've been wanting to give a go. Some have been inspired by our grandmother's era, but so far have only taken the time to work on one of the designs. It varied between the couple of bags that I have made with this design, since I am going by a pattern that I made-rather than a purchased or copied pattern. You can see the slight differences below.

I have 3 more in the making and 2 of those are for a couple of little cuties. I'll be excited to share those when the time comes.

BUT for today, I wanted to share the couple I have made previously.

<img style="display:block; I get an idea of what I want and I refuse to give up until I find just what I'm looking for...have I mentioned that I am a determined decorator?!?

My most recent project was my home office. I work from home and although it is just a part time job my office is in a high traffic area of my house so I wanted it to appear as professional as possible. I painted my desk and the walls and was super happy with how they turned out. I got my desk all set up and and organized but quickly realized that I was lacking the daily storage that I needed. I am a forgetful girl and not having the things I need in my sight leads me to forgetting them...things like bills and to do lists! :)

My goal with the new desk was to keep it streamlined, simple, and not cluttered. To try and stick with that goal I had to get creative. I did have some wall space next to my desk that was still at eye level and within reach so I decided that would be my solution to the storage need. I set out looking for the perfect storage solution...

I hit the jackpot at Joann's, they had all of their summer decorating items on super clearance, 75% off! I was able to find a wall hanging wooden storage piece regularly priced $14.99 for only $3.75! Of course I was too excited about the project and forgot to get a before picture, sorry! The piece was red and had a apple picture decoupaged onto the front of the bin. I used some metallic paint that I had to paint the wooden bin. One trick that I have learned to help my OCD when it comes to painting is to go with an overlapping brush stroke. It gives items a more textured look and also seems to provide better coverage.
Instead of covering the whole piece in the metallic paint I set out to find some paper that would coordinate with my office. I was able to find a patterned paper with colors that matched my office perfectly and also a gold fleck paper that was very similar to the paint color I used to paint the wood. Once I got the wood painted I used my scrapbook photo stickers to place the paper onto the front of the bin. I am obsessed with B's so I have quite a few iron-on's. I picked a flocked one to add some more texture to the front, I ironed the B onto the gold fleck paper and then cut the paper smaller to fit the bin. Again I used the photo stickers to attach the gold paper and TAH DAH, project complete!!

I got the creative idea....found the materials....and spent all of 20 minutes to create the project....
Just a little work and I was able to go from this empty space... to space well used! One thing that I have definitely found true value in over the years are photos. You capture memories that will last you a lifetime, even when your mind starts to fail you, if you take care of your photos they will be there to remind you of the memories.

Abbie's photo frame post last week really got me inspired with pictures this week. I love to take pictures, I don't leave home without my camera!! Although I end up with lots of "what was I going for" or "why did I take that" pictures I still manage to capture so many great photos as I am sure you do to. My WCT item for this week will help you showcase your favorite photos, and can be 100% personalized, here is just one example...

You pick the frame size, the mat size and theme, the font, and the wording/personalization. I might have been accused of making things too girlie. :) It's hard not to when you're surrounded by giggles and ruffles and everything in your house tends to have at least one shade of pink on it whether it was suppose to or it was newly decorated with a pink marker.

I love all things girlie, but cannot deny, there is quite a wide world of boy products just waiting to be explored by those curious boys. So, this week, I give you a different take of last weeks project.

It still is made for that creative kiddo--holding crayons, map pencils, and paint brushes, but with a little less pink and red and more black, green, and brown!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ssaqHcThhHg/SpW3cAQFZoI/AAAAAAAAC10/LBdrZVVGqSw/s400/DSC_0300.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5374403422068237954" /><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ssaqHcThhHg/SpW_Rc5PQUI/AAAAAAAAC2M/zY-IfzGx7SI/s400/DSC_0306e.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5374412036871504194" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ssaqHcThhHg/SpW3anwhEiI/AAAAAAAAC1k/gfsoMfrb9OA/s400/DSC_0315.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5374403398313513506" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ssaqHcThhHg/SpW_Qv0yfFI/AAAAAAAAC2E/aiNNR1TJRYM/s400/DSC_0312e.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5374412024773246034" />

What boy doesn't love camo?! I'd seen this amazing home decor weight fabric for a while and finally decided to take the plunge... I ended up getting three yards for $15! What a steal! I wasn't sure how to use it so I cut up a yard and a half, then sewed some fleece to the back to make a blanket for the couch. I love the way it turned out!

If you're interested, email me! Along the way, I'll share some ways that I have been able to add to my walls--although I am no interior designer! Moving has given me some new opportunities to make some stuff for my own walls. I wanted to share one that I did today that I spent less than $10.00 on!!

My dad recently picked up an old medicine cabinet that he found along the road. Yes, yes-call us trash diggers if you may, BUT not many things get me more excited than re-purposing something that was going to be headed to the land fill. I LOVE it. I get giddy about it. I spend hours thinking of how it could be turned into something beautiful. In fact, I told my dad today that I'd love to play some kind of game where you are given some random 'junk' and then make something with it. Maybe we will have to talk about that here again some time.

See how I get excited and then get off course?

SO back to the cabinet. The cabinets front had a mirror attached that was framed out by a resin frame. It took us all of 30 seconds to get it disassembled after I asked dad if I could have the frame. I brought it home. Chris looked at me like I was insane for bring yet another project into the picture. My mother-in-law saw it in the bathroom where it sat for weeks waiting for it's life to be fulfilled and she politely asked what I would be doing with it. Am I crazy? Okay, maybe a little.

Today, it came to me. I finally made a decision on it's insides. I knew the frame's ugly gold exterior would be painted a solid black. I knew that the inside wouldn't fill the entire frame as it is a traditional frame and I needed to give it a modern take so that it would fit into Aleeyah's bathroom.

Okay, so this afternoon I gathered some supplies I might need...

It was nice to have the different supplies there as I was figuring it out as I went. I ended up scaling it down to just a few supplies by time all was said and done though.

I used:

The freebee frame
1 piece of 8.5x11 glass
2 pieces of 5x7 glass
Black spray paint in gloss
3 black and white printed pictures
1 sheet of classic style rub-ons with rhinestones
8 clear thumbtacks
Double sided tape
and a small amount of glass and metal glue.

I started out with my 3 pieces of glass and frame. I moved them around to where I thought they would work out best.

Don't mind the decoration on the bigger sheet of glass. I had tested something out on the extra piece of glass before hand and liked it-so I kept it.

Then once I got the glass positioned where I wanted it, I took the rub-ons, cut them out, and then started practice placing them and the pictures on the glass (it's good practice to not permanently adhere anything down until you pre-positioned them). Once I was happy with the layout, I began rubbing on the rub-ons on the top side of the glass, starting with top and working my way down as to not handle the already rubbed areas too much. Then I used the double sided tape to adhere the photos to the glass.

Once I had everything down into place, I flipped all three pieces of glass over and using a small amount of the glass/metal glue, I glued on the plastic part of the clear thumbtacks to the back of the glass with the pointy part sticking up. I positioned them in places that would not be noticeable. For example, on the smaller sized ones, I put 2 thumbtacks spread apart, but still behind the photos. On the larger sized one-the there are 2 thumbtacks behind the photo and 2 behind the darker rub-ons.

While those were drying, I took the frame out to the garage for some spray paint time. (Remember to always use spray paint in a well ventilated area and to use short, fast spray strokes to avoid making the paint run!) 2 coats worked well for covering the frame I had.

Once all was dried, I used 2 more thumbtacks to hang the frame on the wall and then I started with the large piece of glass first and pushed each piece onto the wall while trying to put most of the pressure on the thumbtacks as they went into the wall.

I expected to be able to see the tacks at least a little bit, was pleasantly surprised to not see them at all when the frame is around the glass. Are you excited? Two of these items are already spoken for, but don't worry, if you want them or something similar there is no problem making and designing it especially for you and in your choice of colors.

First you might notice in the basket is a very soft and cuddly bunny rabbit. She is made of pink snuggly fabric with a slight flower and leaf impressions into the fabric. When I found this fabric, I knew it would be the prefect match for this project. It's soft for baby, but elegant for mommy. She comes with a lime green hand crocheted scarf just her size or if you would prefer a white or brown scarf-we can do that too. She measures 17" tall.

Secondly, is a snuggly rectangle with satin ribbon trim. The top is made with chocolate brown and pink polka dotted fabric and the back is a pink satin, but what really makes this square fun is the ribbon loops. Your baby will love the different textures of the ribbon and the snuggly side of satin. Dimensions are approximately 14"x14".

The last thing in the basket is a floor blanket with more satin loops. Measuring at 32"x32" it is big enough to give your baby some wiggling room and still be compact enough to take with you where ever you go. The ribbon loops are excellent for slobbering on or attaching small clip on toys to to keep them within baby's reach. Lots of details were given in this blanket. Two of the squares are made with the same pink flowered detailed snuggy material and the other 2 are quilted with different colors of fabric and stitches. The back is lined with a soft lime green fleece for added grip to the carpet.

As I said before 2 of the items are spoken for, but Miss Snuggly Bunny is still available and the blanket/snuggly can be remade with the same fabrics or in colors of your choice. Comment here or email me at jaggededgeboutique(at)gmail(dot)com if you would like something a little different so we can chat fabrics! Quilted blanket price will be indicated below. For a 2 fabric front with fleece backing the price will be $28.00 (includes shipping).

all prices include shipping

Miss Snuggly Bunny $36.00
Snuggly/Ribbon Square $18.50
Quilted Floor Blanket with Ribbons $38.00

Personalized Baby Goodness

Why stick to the plain baby clothes you can buy at any store when you could personalize them for your own child or for a gift? It started with dressing my Barbie's and baby dolls, then moved to rearranging my room about once a month and decorating every inch of my walls. My Mom always had a passion for crafts, she would cross stitch to which I was amazed...I'm that girl with the glasses and super bad vision so trying to put the needle in a tiny hole and make a pattern is just not happening with me. We would have craft days together...we bought stock in Creative Memories when they first came out, made lots of things with the hot glue gun but most of all we had fun. It was a time we spent together that I always looked forward to.

In school I took every Home Economics, Sewing, Yearbook Design and Fashion Careers course I could get my hands on. I started that route because they were things that could balance the mundane of the required classes! But it didn't take long for me to really love it and find myself through all the projects. There were many phases during that time...Tom Boy, Preppy, Cowgirl, Athletic, Skater Girl, etc, etc. But then I found ME, I don't think I quite fit any of those molds but more specifically a little of each of them and I love it!

Once school finished I really didn't spend too much time worrying about crafts. I did life and spent all my energy trying to enjoy it. You know how the song goes, but once the news of the baby in the baby carriage came into play by creativity went WILD! I started scrapbooking my heart out, I have nearly every second of my pregnancy on paper and her 1st year was about the same! I started to realize the part of me that had been missing during the years prior, there was nothing I was doing that allowed me to reach that place in my mind where I could just let go, crafting does that for me! It's my crack!

The kid is 7 now and crafting is still my passion, and even better we get to do some of it together! I LOVE being creative, or toying with ideas and so meeting Abbie and Gin was just God's way of encouraging me to keep on, I'm sure of it. These 2 girls keep my creative spark alive and I am so thankful for that. I am not afraid to try anything, and thankfully between the 3 of us we have all dabbled in a bit of everything so once we put our minds together it's pure brilliance, or at least that's what I like to tell myself! :) If I had to pick my favorite craftiness I would say sewing, decorating and anything personalized. Getting married brought on my obsession with the letter B and it hasn't stopped from there. I think personalization is as special as it gets, there is nothing better than giving or getting something that was made ESPECIALLY for you! And I love to give gifts so I spend a lot of my time and energy finding ways to personalize anything...I'm sure you will figure that out pretty quick!

I am so excited for this adventure and so thankful that you stopped by to check out us JAG girls! I think between the 3 of us we can bring a little something for everyone and by all means if there is something you are looking for and don't see please don't hesitate to ask us!!!

A....

Crafting and creativity has always been a passion in me, but it wasn't an easy road. Growing up, I remember constantly wanting to be involved with craft projects, but while other people made gorgeous pieces of art, my craft often ended in tears because it never came out just the way it was suppose to. The puff paint on my iron-on embellished t-shirts were never quite the right puffiness and the stings from the hot glue gun always seemed to make more of a statement then the actual craft itself. Sewing. Ugh. Sewing. My grandmother had given me and my sister some fabric to play around with on the old sewing machine. I remember trying to make a square pillow with some green fabric. A square. Just a square. Needless to say, more tears followed that pillow. Every time I touched a craft, it managed to get uglier. Lines more crooked. Glue less sticky. I never quite understood why, but I pressed on.

They say that practice makes perfect. I believe that crafting has been one of the few things in my life that I have continued through the tears to find a place on the other side. The other side doesn't quite mean perfection and I'm not sure that I want perfection.

See, through all my diligence in seeking the inward creativity in myself, I did get better. My lines got straighter. I learned to use better glue. I learned the tricks of how to keep the hot glue strings at bay without burning my fingers. Even along the way, I've ventured away from puff paint and learned so many different types of crafting from sewing, jewelry making, woodworking, crocheting, painting.

But more importantly, I've learned to live and deal with the small imperfections. The imperfections in my crafts, but also the imperfections in me.

A slight crookedness in a line says that item is unique. A one of a kind. Just as each of us are.

An accidental slip of the glue is a reminder that we fall from time to time. It doesn't mean we are broken. It doesn't mean we are damaged. It just means that we need some more glue. HINT: Go for the Good stuff!

A big mess up of the original plan is a lesson and gives us an opportunity to take what we have and recreate a plan. You never know when it will be your next masterpiece. Or His.

--------

I am looking forward to being here with my girls. They have been an amazing inspiration to me. There are times where I feel like I'm all crafted out and then one of them sends me a link to something fabulous and it gets those wheels a-turnin'. They have also been the ones to inspire me to use my talents more to help our dreams of adoption come true. Thank you J and G!

I'm also glad to be sharing this journey with you. Many of my family and friends have encouraged me during my long bouts of trying to find perfection in everything I do. Know that I will never find my own work as such, but there has been at least 3 people that have given their stamp of approval before it makes it to you. Because that is just the way I roll.

Finally, I look forward to the lessons to come in the quietness of my craft space and sharing them with you here.

G...

Wow, this is so exciting! I can't wait to see how this will all unfold... thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you'll bookmark us! I'm not really sure where to begin... part of me feels inadequate and plain, yet another part of me is excited to share some of my crafts with you all.

While I grew up with a DIY mom who made anything and everything, I took a break from crafting for a while. Only recently have I started pulling out some of my old favorites... and scouting new tools to play with on rainy days! Actually, I adopted a puppy a couple of years ago. She's pretty timid and is afraid of just about everything. Because of that, I often resort to carrying her. At 40lbs, not only does it look ridiculous, but she's heavy! I decided I needed something though so I bought some lavender duck cloth and pulled out my sewing maching to make a sling to help support her when I had to carry her.

I should have known that breaking out the sewing machine would create a new monster! I became somewhat obsessed with fabric - the new stuff is SO cute! Now that I have a good little stock of some great prints, I'm ready to roll! I can't say what all I'll end up with, but stay tuned, it's sure to be fun!
